Erewash Valley Gymnastics Club (EVGC) was established in 1978 by one coach training six girls for recreational purposes for one hour a week at Sandiacre Friesland Sports Centre. As the numbers grew, more coaches were taken on and extra sessions were added. The more advanced gymnasts were competing in regional competitions and had to travel to Coalville Gymnastics Club for their advanced training facilities.

Nottingham School of Rhythmic Gymnastics joined in 2001 making the club the largest non-profit making gymnastics club in Erewash.

In 2001 coaches and committee began discussing the viability of finding a premises to train in and by 2002 groups were nearing capacity and the hunt for suitable premises started.

In 2003 EVGC found Unit 2 Acton Road Long Eaton and in January 2004 it opened.

At present the number of gymnasts in the club is around 260 with 40 coaches and a small committee.

In September 2009 EVGC officially opened an extension to the current facility. This has doubled the floor size to 14000sq ft and enable the club to once again increase the places we can offer to children in the local community to encourage wider participation in gymnastics and to offer a training venue to third party clubs in other disciplines.
